#NoCutsToLibraries: Stand with NYC Libraries June 15!
Your library and your community need your help. New York City leaders are hard at work on NYC’s budget—and right now our public libraries are facing a potential $36.2 million cut that will severely impact our ability to deliver the free services, programs, and resources New Yorkers depend on.
While we are actively communicating with our elected officials to restore full funding for libraries, if enacted, the proposed cuts will end Sunday service city wide and eliminate universal six-day service, reduce the budget for books, and limit programming. These are just a few of the difficult measures our systems will have to enact in order to handle a cut of this magnitude.
At 10 AM on Thursday, June 15, join library supporters from across New York City as we send a clear, united message to City leaders: Reverse the $36.2 million cut! #NoCutsToLibraries! All are invited to join this city-wide day of action, including supportive elected officials who are fighting to stop these cuts. Stand with public libraries!
